Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Friday handed over laptops to farmers who purchased tractors from Mahindra & Mahindra.
Dr Reddy observed “With the changing demographics of the Indian population, such initiatives are essential to ensure that India builds a technologically progressive youth populace.”
According to a statement, the Farm Equipment Sector of Mahindra & Mahindra recently undertook a customer-centric initiative for the farmers of Andhra Pradesh.
In a statement, Mr Avinash Patankar of M&M said “with My Computer, My Mahindra, My World, we endeavour to spread knowledge and awareness in the rural pockets of the country.
This initiative addresses the desire of a better life with more choices and more information with convenience among the rural population.”
Rural initiative
This programme is part of a larger rural initiative Mahindra Samriddhi, which aims to increase agricultural productivity through creative farming techniques.
As part of this initiative, 30 Mahindra dealerships have been transformed into Samriddhi centres, offering the farmer easy access to technological know-how, hybrid seeds, soil and water-testing facilities, demo farms, finance and insurance, Internet updates and sales and servicing of tractors and tractor implements.
The company has set up Mahindra Kisan Mitra (MKM), a Web site which provides farmers the latest information relating to crops, weather conditions, loans, insurance schemes, commodity prices, Government schemes, news and events.
